To the man of my dreams
I think about you ever so often, when my mind isn't clouded with thoughts of other men. I wish I knew who you were. I wish I didn't have to go from man to man hoping that one of them is you, only to be disappointed. My girlfriends tell me you are not far away, that Jesus is leading you to me. Is that true? Do you even know who I am? I don't think I know you yet. All the men that have crossed my path don't remind me of you. Oh, if I put them all together in a big stew pot, I'm sure I would come up with something vaguely familiar. There is something in each one of them that reminds me of you. That must be the reason I am drawn to them. But as of yet, not one is a dead ringer. Where are you, man of my dreams? What are you waiting for? Has God told you too wait?
I know things aren't perfect with me. Can't say they will be this side of heaven. I want to offer you a gem of great value, but this precious gem has been scratched. I know Jesus sees my beauty, but I fear that He is the only one who can see past the blemishes. Will you, when the times comes? I'd be foolish to think you're perfect too. Maybe you have the same fears as I do. It's hard to love when our eyes are focused on self. I long to be embraced in your arms. But I will wait until our Lord brings us together. His time is right and I would be selfish to rush it. I will wait for you, anxiously, patiently, hopefully, prayerfully. Wait for me, too.
